All That Witchy Stuff
See that guy up there? That is a picture of the much maligned Baphomet.
Contrary to popular opinion from outsiders, he has nothing to do with Witchcraft or low magick. Baphomet is the property of Ceremonial Magicians and the practitioners of High Magick.
Don't ever, ever refer to a Ceremonialist as a witch. Your liable to end up picking your own teeth up off the floor.
Here is a commentary by Eliphas Levi on Baphomet:
The goat on the frontispiece carries the sign of the
pentagram on the forehead, with one point at the top,
a symbol of light,
his two hands forming the sign of hermetecism,
the one pointing up to the white moon of the
Qabbalistic Chesed,
the other pointing down to the black one of
Geburah.
This sign expresses the perfect harmony of mercy with justice.
His one arm is female, the other male like the ones
of the androgyne of Khunrath, the attributes of which
we had to unite with those of our goat because
he is one and the same symbol.
The flame of intelligence shining between his horns
is the magic light of the universal balance, the
image of the soul elevated above matter, as the flame,
whilst being tied to matter, shines above it.
The ugly beast's head expresses the horror
of the sinner,
whose materially acting, solely responsible part has
to bear the punishment exclusively; because
the soul is insensitive according to its nature and can
only suffer when it materializes.
The rod standing instead of genitals symbolizes eternal life,
the body covered with scales the water,
the semi-circle above it the atmosphere,
the feathers following above the volatile.
Humanity is represented by the two breasts and
the androgyne arms of this sphinx of the occult sciences.
The vast majority of Neo-Witches wouldn't know Baphomet if they fell over him. Even they associate his image with Satanists. He is, of course, nothing of the sort but Ceremonialist, Thelemites and other followers of a more strict occult path, prefer it that way. There is no
love lost between the two camps.
Beyond this page, you will find a few of the things you will hear and see, most often in Witchcraft practices.
In all honesty, I wasn't all that sure about uploading these again. It isn't where I am as an individual but I was receiving e-mails from
former visitors who missed particular pages.
You WON'T find the Rede here, there are enough pages dedicated to it. I refuse to give it credence. I've posted the Laws but with a warning note.
The Charges are up. I figure if you're in this site, you already know about most of the Witchcraft practices, the Sabbats, the Esbats and if not? Well, look for the pages touting the Rede and you'll probably find something of interest there. There is a piece on this site that looks at the various important dates; Witches' Orgy
I've also put a link below for Triumph of the Moon by Ronald Hutton. Its an important piece and if you have an IQ over that of your average
doorknob? This should be in your home library.
