A Radical's View of Thelema

Always the rebel; never one to accept rules, regulations or even schools of thought without examining, dissecting and generally tear it apart to see how it works or doesn't work. I have managed to get myself in a world of trouble doing things this way but I can't help it.

I can't just take someone's word for truth. Not even Crowley's.

I've found that Thelema, as it is now, doesn't work. It doesn't make sense and there are simply far too many questions unanswered or worse, not examined at all.

For example - the Liber Al? Dictated to a woman but interpreted by a man? Why was it not simply dictated to Crowley himself? Was he unworthy to receive the words? If so, maybe he was unworthy to be their scribe.

He wrote the words down but didn't seem to quite grasp their meaning. Had he done so? Perhaps his demise wouldn't have been so pathetic.

Perhaps his life wouldn't have been a testament of dreadful excess, of failure to achieve.

Could be there is an integral point being missed?

Perhaps it IS the New Aeon and perhaps the Liber Al was not an outward manifestation of Rose Kelly's mental illness. Perhaps there is a reason this was dictated through Rose. A symbolic meaning?

Even Crowley admited there is a secret interpretation behind the Liber Al and one he had failed to decipher. Horus is set to rule but Horus is the child. Children cannot survive without their mothers. This concept should have bearing on the interpretation. It is a simple fact of nature. A primal fact.

Child is a non-gendered term. Child is both male and female.

How would this, then, serve the interpretation of the book?

Perhaps this new age isn't the dawn of a new time for mankind but a new dawn for womenkind as well. Maybe the way isn't through a continuation of a male dominated world but a new line of leadership. Women AND Men holding the power - equally.

So far? The patriarchial societies have failed their members miserably.

The Scarlet Woman rides but there is no man leading her. She doesn't need Adam's spawn to direct her path. Let Men walk or ride beside her. Not in front of her, not behind her but at her side.

The two - representative as the child and it's lack of gender specification should ride into the New Aeon.
