Caution or Caveat Emptor
Not all Fair Trade organizations are worthy of your dollars. I have had a rather disturbing exchange of e-mails with a Br. Elias of Mystic Monk Coffee. Apparently, posting a link to their site on Witches' Haven is distasteful to them.
UPDATE! UPDATE! I did a little investigating of Mystic Monk coffee because, well, I do know an awful lot of Roman Catholics and this simply isn't characteristic of R.C. beliefs.
Mystic Monk isn't Monk coffee at all. On the web site - there are a few facts about Carmelite Monks and some photos. Then it dawned on me. Carmelites???? They live a very cloistered existence. No phone (except emergencies), no television or radio and you better believe they don't have internet access.
Do a Who Is search if you want to know who actually owns the site.
To me? Leading people to believe this is a Carmelite Monk site is, incredibly, slimey.
Again, to me? Talk about immoral...
Here is the e-mail exchange:

Any particular reason or is it simply a matter of religious intolerance?

Lillith,
Witchcraft is objectively immoral and therefore it would be very uncharitable for us to support or approve you in any way. Please consider reading the story of Saint Cyprian who was the greatest sorcerer of his time, but converted by the virgin St. Justina.
You are in my prayers,
Br. Elias

I would have thought the Fair Trade initiative transcended religion. The
main objective being the hope of independent living by those whose lives are
infinitely more challenged than our own.
Immoral? I have brought 3 extremely moral young men into this world. I
would never, ever judge someone based on their concept of deity but perhaps
your view of immoral and my own are different. I see immorality in an
intolerant view of people.
I will ensure that your views are expressed on my web site; I'm sure Pagan
money must be far less acceptable than good Christian dollars. I wouldn't
want to offend morals in anyway.
